About ABDi GateAccess.net
Long-established gate access control and visitor management for gated communities, with one of the largest installed bases in the category (900+ communities). Acquired by Envera Systems in July 2024; rebranding as ABDI Community+.
Pricing: No published pricing — custom quotes (installation + license + annual maintenance)
Built for a different delivery era
GateAccess.net comes from the annual-pass era — when a local appliance store or landscaper bought one pass covering all of its trucks, and the gate rarely saw a stranger. That world is gone. Lowe's, Amazon, and most delivery companies now subcontract to gig drivers: a different unknown driver at the gate every trip. Handling that volume takes instant digital passes, text-the-pass delivery, and fast guard verification — not a support ticket to your gate vendor. GateKeeper was built for the gig-delivery era.
Feature Comparison
In maintenance mode: no iOS release since April 2025; the only Android update since (Jan 2026) was a compatibility patch
Resident form adds a name to the guard's list; no pass artifact is issued to the guest
Resident vehicle view is read-only — no add or edit
Built on carrier email-to-SMS gateways discontinued 2022–2024
Not present in the resident portal or public materials
Gate-focused product; community operations live in separate systems
Based on ABDi's public materials, App Store and Google Play release histories (checked July 2026), a hands-on review of a live resident account in a 4,000+ home community (April 2026), and that community's operator experience administering the platform (2026). Resident-portal observations describe the resident-facing interface; staff and guard interfaces were not reviewed.
ABDi GateAccess.net Strengths
- Purpose-built for gated community gate access — RFID decals, visitor lists, guard lookup
- One of the largest installed bases in the category
- Deep familiarity among guard staff and community offices
- Often bundled with guard-service contracts
ABDi GateAccess.net Limitations
- In maintenance mode — the resident iOS app has had no release since April 2025, and the only Android update since then (January 2026) was a compatibility patch, while competing gate apps ship monthly
- The web resident portal is the same legacy ASP.NET application it has been for years — passwords are still capped at 15 characters
- Routine configuration changes — like updating a community's annual pass rates — can't be made by community staff; they require vendor support tickets with long turnarounds
- Resident guest registration captures only a guest name and dates — no vehicle, plate, or photo fields in the resident-facing form
- Residents cannot add or manage their own vehicles — the resident vehicle and decal view is read-only
- Visitor-arrival text notifications were built on carrier email-to-SMS gateways that carriers shut down in 2022–2024
- Gate-focused product — assessments, violations, communications, and property transfers require separate systems
- No published pricing; custom quotes only
“We already use GateAccess.net for our gates.”
GateAccess.net is a capable gate system, but it's gate-only. You still need separate tools for assessments, communications, violations, and property transfers. GateKeeper consolidates everything into one platform with a modern resident portal, so your office staff isn't toggling between four systems every day.
